Fertilization and Pregnancy
Female Sex cells
Female sex cells are called "Eggs". From puberty on women produce a matured egg cell every 28 days approximately.
Male Sex cells
Male sex cells are called "Sperm". From puberty on men produce two million sex cells a day.
Fertilization Process
When an egg cell matures it leaves the ovary and goes through the fallopian tube, in the fallopian tube it meets the male sex cells, but just one sperm fertilizes the egg.
Zygote
The Zygote is the result of the egg and sperm union, and this one is the fist cell in human beings.
This zygote divides into two, later into four and continues dividing itself and forms an "Embryo". This embryo travels from the fallopian tube to the uterus and attaches itself to one of the walls of the uterus. An organ called placenta is developed and attached to the embryo by the umbilical cord.
Placenta
The placenta is an organ developed in the uterus, it is attached to the fetus by the umbilical cord and its function is to absorbs oxygen and nutrients from the mom and passes them to the baby.
After three months the embryo develops the primary sexual characteristics and moves to the stage of fetus which takes six more months.
